Work & Practice
Rocky Ji is an award‑winning director working across theatre and live performance. His work spans intimate pieces to mid‑scale productions, alongside experience supporting larger‑scale and international projects.

He champions new work and underrepresented voices across a range of scales. He reimagines classical texts and creates bold contemporary work with clarity, precision, and a distinctive theatrical form.
He is particularly interested in directing work that balances scale with detail, and ambition with rigour.
Rocky develops new plays and musicals, working in a variety of roles and collaborative contexts. His development practice includes residencies, workshops, commissioning pathways, and international partnerships in the UK, North America, and Asia.
His approach is collaborative and iterative, shaped by work in different processes, forms, and production environments. He is committed to building pathways that move projects from early development through production and touring, including new writing, adaptations, and the reimagining of existing material for new audiences.
Rocky works in executive, facilitation, and consulting capacities with artists, organisations, and institutions. His experience includes rehearsal room support, contributions to creative and producing teams, and work within independent, regional, and institutional settings.

He has held senior leadership and producing roles within mid‑scale organisations and has worked with larger institutions through mentorships, residencies, and development partnerships. He continues to engage in sector conversations on access, equity, and inclusion while cultivating partnerships in the UK and internationally.
